Hope House is more than just a bed to sleep in!
Up to twelve male residents live as a community with support from paid staff and volunteers. Each resident has their own room and access to a large lounge, dining room and kitchen with access to an outside courtyard and a lawned from garden.
There are a few rules including no consuming or possession of alcohol and drugs, being respectful to fellow residents, staff and volunteers. Residents can leave the premises during the day but are expected to return in the evening unless permission has been given to stay elsewhere overnight.
Residents attend regular house meetings and daily devotionals and some attend services at Ss Augustine church next door.
Residents plan meals, cook, eat and socialise together. Counselling, advice, learning and training is available as well as the opportunity to do voluntary work. The eventual aim is to enable residents to move on in their lives and live independently.
