“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the LORD, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11
Homelessness doesn’t discriminate; it doesn’t take much to find yourself on the streets -the loss of a job, a wrong decision, an unaddressed debt, a breakdown in relationships, a health issue, a brush with the law or a struggle with addiction. Any one of these would be be difficult but when two or three combine things become very difficult very quickly. At the heart of Hope House is a strong belief that no one should face these things alone.
The Hope House community is like a family. New friendships are made, new skills learned, new confidence is gained, old habits are broken, damaged relationships put right and health restored as residents move towards independent living.
The aim is to progress the residents towards independent living. This may be within a few months or may take a couple of years. Each residents is allocated one of the staff as their ‘Key Worker’ who along with the other staff members will help them on their journey.
We appreciate it is not always easy. The house is drugs and alcohol free, there are set routines including cooking and eating together, maintaining the cleanliness of the building. Residents are expected to take part in meaningful activities both in the house and in the community.
When residents move on from Hope House we hope they will still feel part of the Hope House Family and are offered continuing support for as long as they want it.
